Shattered Glass
8-11-05

What was once a lovely intricate vase,
Has become shattered glass
Each of the remnants
Cutting into my heart.
Maybe my heart has become callous,
For I don’t feel a thing.
Yet it hurts under the mask.
Shattered glass,
Who can make it whole?
You can search and search,
But you can never find
The last piece,
of shattered glass.
It cuts into my heart,
Does it really hurt?
A bleeding heart, I now possess
A bandage covers it up.
I can say I am healed and I don’t care,
I can deceive myself into thinking,
I am OK,
But I think it’s all a lie.
Nothing can cover up the pain of the shattered glass.
Broken and torn, it is all that’s left,
Try to find each piece.
Put it back together, could you ever?
Could you find each piece?
Every remnant of what it once was.
In your own time dear Lord,
Make what you want to.
With all the pieces,
Make what you want to,
With my shattered glass...
