Can’t I paint my own picture?
Can’t I sing my own song?
Can’t I play my own way?
And choose where I belong?

Can’t I do things my own way?
Can’t I write my own words?
Can’t I choose what to pray?
Can’t I choose my friends?

Can’t I say what I want to say?
Can’t I do what I want to do?
Do I have to follow others?
Must I always listen to you?

Do I have to follow suit every single play
Must I do everything right
All the time in every way?
I guess I have wasted the day…

Let me paint your picture
Let me sing your son
Can you play my way?
I will show you where you belong.

Will you do things my way?
Will you listen to my words?
You can choose what to pray

I guess sometimes I really don't always want to submit to higher and greater authority, specifically God - But He always gently reminds me that I AM LOVED...
