You say ‘I want to be your friend’

But you don’t try to understand

“I really want to help you”

but all you offer is reprimand.

I would like to sit and talk

I would love to share my heart

I would love being close to you

But what you do just tears us apart

“I don’t want you hurt”

Is what I hear from you

“I really do love you”

But you won’t see things from my point of view

I want your trust

But you won’t give me a chance

You don’t let me try

In any circumstance.

“I want the best for you”

I know you mean well

But you are only hurting me

By keeping me in this jail cell.

Let me spread my wings

Let me make you proud

I will always try my best

If I was just allowed.

I only want this chance.

I only want to make you smile

I’ll represent you well

And make your love worthwhile.
